Issue with Rugloop rev. 11.47-11.76
An erroneous registration of the patient's gender is observed in certain RugloopII versions. Female registrations are ignored, and converted into 'male' patients. Therefore, you will need to recover gender information from your own study documentation, if needed.
This issue has no side-effects for calculation of PK parameters EXCEPT for ALFENTANIL. Please contact us to work out a solution If you have been using Alfentanil in TCI with these Rugloop versions.

The RugloopII versions suffering this defect have been identified as all versions from 11.47 on. It was resolved in release 11.77. Please contact Demed for download & installation instructions for this version.

We are very sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Excel Macro available

For users struggling with the Rugloop data files, an excel macro was developed to simplify parsing multiple datalines in a single file. The macro can be freely downloaded here.
We are working on a similar approach for Matlab import functionality.

New Labgrab available

The latest Labgrab is available (2.17) and can be downloaded here.  This version has a number of issues fixed, no specific added functionality.

RugloopII update

RugloopII release 11.27 is available.

This update will facilitate finding the right serial port: Rugloop will now only show the physically available ports for selection.
This should considerably speed up finding the right port.
Other modifications are:

  • development for GCP compliance is finished & was tested.
  • Hospira Sedline monitor is supported
  • Philips  Intellivue monitors (MP70/90) are supported
  • A2000 column naming: apparently Rugloop would sometimes still mix up the column names for the captured BIS algorithms. This has been fixed.

The new release can be downloaded & installed by the registered users.
An updated list of the currently supported devices can be found here

Furthermore, we are still working on the Rugloop tags, which will be available soon ! These will allow automated detection of the port being used !
Also, the new BIS VISTA monitor driver development is in the pipeline, for Q1 2007, as is the support of wave capturing from the Philips Intellivue monitor.

Check here for more news soon!

The new Labgrab has arrived

Since its first release now 3 years ago, Labgrab has had many useful comments from users. A majority of them have been integrated in the new release, 2.08, which is available now. The new release can be downloaded & installed by the registered users. Trial licenses are available upon e-mail request. (tds@demed.be)

Rugloop tags relieve the burden of finding the right serial port ....

Connecting multiple monitors with Rugloop can, sometimes, be a nightmare. The solution is in sight with the Rugloop tags!
A Rugloop tag is a small hardware device to be mounted inbetween the serial port and the monitor cable. The tag is visibly labeled with the monitor name & type. In software, Rugloop will automatically search for the serial port with the correct tag, and connect to the monitor behind it. So no more fooling around with COM settings when another study has been using the same hardware setup !

The tags are currently in development ! Find out more on this site soon !

Philips intellivue driver is in development.

The development of the Philips intellivue driver was started. The driver will be available soon !

GCP compliance.

Good Clinical Practice (GCP) is an international ethical and scientific quality standard for designing, recording and reporting trials that involve the participation of human subjects. Compliance with this standard provides public assurance that the rights, safety and well being of trial subjects are protected, consistent with the principles that have their origin in the Declaration of Helsinki, and that the clinical trial data are credible.

We are in the process of integrating methods into RugloopII(c) to facilitate research according to GCP guidelines when using Rugloop. These methods include required login procedure, studies registration, and detailed pdf-based logs.

For more information, see RugloopII© GCP compliance

Demed proudly presents... the Rugloop video module.

Imagine that you could synchronize operating theatre events captured on tape with your sampled case data... now you can !
Rugloop was extended with an option allowing to capture video from any video source connected to the PC. The video is overlaid with the current PC time and relative case time before it is written to file. The output file is a standard avi-file that can be played with any media player, and that has both times displayed.

* a new Rugloop version is available (11.08). This supports the newest A2000 monitor, and has a bug fix for the Philips/Agilent/HP CMS/Merlin/V24/V26 monitor series.
* A new FAQ was added concerning Rugloop number format.

Demed has attended the AMCA workshop where we presented 2 topics:
Pitfalls in creating commercial devices from theoretical TCI concepts.
A Bayesian approach for online estimation of PD parameters
Abstracts & slides of the presentations can be found at  the links above.

A new FAQ (Q5/A5) was added about issues when connecting to the A2000 monitor.

IMPORTANT: for users of Rugloop TCI: SAFETY UPGRADE

one potential source of troubles with RugloopII TCI is the option of purging the system. If a user would accidentally press OK, the system would deliver the drug at 200ml/h. An update was made RugloopII(c) to accommodate for this: the new RugloopII(c) requires you to keep on pushing the 'purge' button while purging. We believe this is an IMPORTANT SAFETY UPGRADE that all Rugloop TCI users should install. So, if you are a Rugloop TCI user, please contact us for instructions on how to upgrade your version with this safety improvement. (Rugloop 10.00)

RugloopII, rev. 9.82 supports the new Dräger Zeus anesthesia machine, as well as an updated version of the Julian and Primus devices.

March 3, 2004

Another update: RugloopII (rev. 9.80) is released:

  • a few bug fixes (the application could lock the system when selecting an unavailable COM port)

  • infusion devices can be disabled

  • the syringe drug concentration can be adjusted

A new component was added targeted to improve research: the STOPWATCH component. This component can load a series of events upon startup; whenever the case time is about to cross such an event's time, a countdown is started. When the event has elapsed, it is added to a list until it is confirmed by the user. Upon confirm, a log is added to the standard Rugloop log indicating event time, confirm time, and event notification. The events are loaded from a standard comma-separated file, enabling you to create your own set of events
